SBI PO Preliminary Examination

The examination is a 3 stage process that includes Preliminary, Mains & Interview. So let us explore the process of the preliminary examination. The Preliminary Examination will consist of Objective Test for 100 marks will be conducted online. The test will have 3 Sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

Selection criteria for Main Examination: Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Examination. There will be no sectional cut-off. Candidates numbering 10 times (approx.) the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination from the top of the above merit list.

A candidate must be a graduate at the time of the Interview

Can I apply for SBI PO in the final year?

Yes, a candidate can apply in the final year but have to produce proof of graduation at the time of the Interview. Therefore it is only partly true. If the schedule of your college is such that you get your degree in the month of March or April or before the Interview you can apply but for most institutes, the examination is conducted in April or May, and hence if they apply in the final semester their results are declared in June or July which is equivalent to wasting 1 attempt.

What is the maximum number of attempts in the SBI PO Exam?

The maximum number of attempts is unlimited for PwD – People with Disability, SC & ST. However, it is 4 for general & 7 for other categories like OBC & EWS

What is the cutoff of SBI PO for Prelims?

For the year 2022 SBI will release the cutoff after the completion of the exam. For 2021 cutoff was 63 marks out of 100 for the general category. For 2020 it was 58.5 marks, in 2019 it was 71 marks, in 2018 it was 56.75 marks and in 2017 it was 51.50 marks. Category-wise marks differ but if you qualify for the general category. You’re definitely in.
